Hi, I’m Lily. I’m a girl with wild dreams and a big heart.
I’m a junior at UNC-CH, currently studying studio art and advertising. Things I’m currently obsessed with right now include painting, photography, good books, cuddling, tattoos, traveling, and last but not least, sushi. This year, a lot of things have changed for me. The most significant thing that happened to me this year? I met Theron.
Yep, you guessed it, I’m a proud army girlfriend. I’m head over heels in love with my soldier. He is my hero, soulmate and best friend all packed into one amazing person. This tumblr is mainly for him.

This blog is also for my own self-therapy, I suppose, which will be severely needed in the next few months to come.

So how did we meet?
Well it all started off when I made a profile on this dating site that some of my friends were on. I didn’t really expect to find anyone, I was just doing it for fun. They show you potential matches or people you might be interested in, and I immediately honed in on Theron’s profile.
I had all these guys messaging me left and right but I was never the one to initiate a conversation. But after looking through his profile, I took a chance and sent him a message. I was so nervous that he wasn’t going to reply. I thought that maybe he was just going to be another one of my aspirations that didn’t come true.
But he replied a few days later! I was ecstatic. I immediately sent him a message back and this started an ongoing message chain that we kept up with throughout the day. I was so nervous! I hadn’t been in a serious relationship for two years so I feel like I forgot how to flirt! But he kept talking to me! We started chatting on IM (it was really cute btw, he would sometimes send me “hug” smilies when we said goodbye, ahh)…soon enough it was a few weeks since we started talking so then we exchanged numbers and I called him.
I think by that point we both knew that we were interested in each other but were afraid to let the other person know. We kept talking, learning more about each other, and finally arranged a date to finally meet (April 22, 2012).
I was awfully nervous when that day arrived. But when we saw each other for the first time, he just walked toward me with such confidence and opened his arms. I ran into them and as he held me everything just clicked and seemed so right. We spent the day together and there were barely any awkward moments. We had the most amazing time and by the end of that day I think we both knew that we wanted to be with each other.
Our relationship progressed from there. He was originally stationed at Ft Bragg, NC but two months after we met he was being moved to Ft Stewart, GA. It was tough, wondering if we could make it with such a new relationship and such a wide distance. I’ve never been in a long distance relationship before. There were a lot of obstacles and I made my fair share of mistakes. There were times when we didn’t know if we wanted to be with each other and were unsure if things would last.
Sometimes it gets really tough but then I remember how much he loves me (every part of me, even the not so good quirks), I remember to appreciate all the things he has done for me and all the sacrifices he makes, and just thinking of him makes everything a little easier. He can make me smile even when he’s not around.
We are currently going through our biggest challenge yet (deployment) but we are still going strong. We’re still learning, growing, and loving each other more every day, even though things get hard sometimes. We are not perfect, but I am so glad to have found him and that I can call him mine.
